This is timely. My wife was watching outtakes and interviews with the cast of Downton Abbey. One of the outtakes was a clip about how the castle used in the show was considered a character and many of the scripts took into account not only how historical events affected the characters, but also the building and how it would react. This made me think about this podcast about making stories and how a building can become a character in a story. Can all buildings be seen, animistically, as being with feelings and reactions? Do the things you find on your walks view you the same way an abandoned pet views its rescuer?
Davezilla, architecture and location are a HUGE part of it. I hope to someday cover some of that.
I read about psychogeography recently, and felt it resonate quite a bit. Though the topic. like dream interpretation, is most often taken too far into orthodoxy or speculative orthodoxy, it, like dream interpretation, can be very helpful for fleshing out ideas.
The book and movie High Rise is a great example of a building being a character in fiction (without touching on haunted house stuff), but be warned it is a rough story.
